News Update: Sigenergy Recall
ACCC (The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission) has issued an electrical safety recall of Sigenergy single phase 8/10/12 kW energy controllers.
We understand this announcement has caused concern across the industry. Please be assured that all eligible STC applications will be approved once the required rectification has been completed. The industry has learned from previous recalls, and coordinated processes are already underway to manage replacement data and approval flows with minimal disruption.

Latest Update
We are monitoring the Sigenergy recall situation closely as it evolves. We are now starting to see some battery STC approvals being issued. PV STC approvals for affected Sigenergy models remain suspended at this time.
Sigenergy is working directly with the Clean Energy Regulator on the replacement process. In many cases, they can see remotely when a replacement inverter has been installed (unless the unit is not connected to the internet).
If you have proactively replaced an affected inverter, you can send evidence of the new inverter serial number to Formbay so we can help pass that information on where needed.
Jobs using recalled inverters (or where there is no clear evidence of the new AC plug) will continue to be held until rectification has been completed. Please contact Sigenergy or your supplier to arrange a replacement inverter if you have not already done so.
Replacement Process
Sigenergy is coordinating the replacement of all affected units. Installers may also choose to complete replacements themselves if preferred.
For replacement instructions and support, please contact your supplier or Sigenergy directly:

STC Eligibility Clarification
Systems commissioned in 2025 will receive 2025 STC values, even if the rectification or final approval occurs in 2026.
The deeming period drop will not affect these claims.
New Installations
Do not install the recalled inverter models on any new job.
The CER holds the full list of affected serial numbers. Selecting a different model name for a recalled unit will result in the claim being failed and processing time delayed.
From 20 November 2025, all newly installed single-phase 8/10/12kW inverters using the old quick-connect AC plug are not eligible for STCs.
Installations using the new OT terminal-style AC connection are eligible and should continue to be approved within normal timeframes.
To support smooth assessment, please include a clear photo of the new AC plug on all future installations.
Completed Installations – STCs Not Yet Claimed
For installations completed on or before 19 November 2025 using the old quick-connect AC plug:
These jobs must be replaced with the new OT terminal-style inverter before the CER will release STCs.
You may complete the replacement yourself or request Sigenergy to manage it for you.
You can still submit these jobs now; however, the CER will not approve them until rectification is complete.
Once the replacement has been finalised and evidence submitted, the STC rebate will be processed.
Completed Installations – STCs Already Claimed and Paid
If your installation used the old quick-connect AC plug and STCs have already been paid, the inverter will still need to be replaced under the recall program.
Replacements can be carried out by you or by Sigenergy’s service partners. Once completed, this will ensure continued compliance and system safety.
Formbay Processing & Support
This is an evolving situation, and we are working closely with Sigenergy, the CEC, and the CER to minimise impacts.
Pre-approved pricing for affected units is paused temporarily until replacement evidence is provided.
We are actively working on ways to help alleviate the pressure of these delays, further updates to come.
Updates will be provided as soon as new information becomes available.

Kind Regards,
Formbay Compliance
