Our story

The software was designed exclusively for the Australian Solar Industry to replace the lengthy manual process of data entry straight into the Rec Registry website for the creation of STCs. The technology was the first of its kind and it allowed users a secure way of registering their installs and managing and storing the data in their Formbay.

Formbay Trading platform and app offers a completely paperless way of creating STCs through its use of the iPhone and Google Android platforms via the App, which was first launched in 2011

A brief history

The software for Formbay was developed through Daniel's web development company, Konceive in 2009. Konceive has been involved in many large scale content management systems and also the development of the security software for Telstra BigPond

  • Founded in 2010 in Sydney, Australia.

    Formbay started as a digital platform for the solar industry, enabling solar installers/aggregators to submit solar paperwork digitally direct from their worksite to Government agency, the Clean Energy Regulator (CER).

    2010

  • Launch of Formbay to the Australian solar industry. Providing the first STC compliance focused field app for solar installers, allowing them to scan serials, take photos and capture electronic signatures

    2011

  • Partnership with TVS

    Processes over 260k STC

    Hit 12 million STCs processed

    Surpasses 1800 account holders

    Formbay 2 goes into beta trial with selected clients

    2012

  • Formbay 2.0 comes out of beta mode and is being integrated with API to existing Formbay solar clients. Victorian grid connection forms and QLD electrical certificate made into electronic forms

    2013

  • Updated App with reliable data capture improvements. Released Remote signing request for Formbay solar clients. JSA, customer acknowledgement form digitised

    2014

  • Released Remote signing request for Formbay installers on the app. SWSMs, risk assessment, warranty, finance (certegy) digitised for Formbay solar clients.

    2015

  • Improved compliance process that improved processing times and minimises fraud risks. New pricing/timeframe tiers. Upgrade Formbay security to make data at rest and in motion secure.

    2016

  • June - Australia Business Awards for best ‘business technology’ and best example of contuious ‘process improvement’ Upgraded Formbay infrastructure for better and reliable service.
    May - Gained ISO 9001 certification.
    Started designing and developing SPV.
    SPV pilot – September – uploaded first DATA PACK.

    2017

  • Commenced work on machine learning and artificial intelligence
    Formbay passes a full security penetration testing facilitated by an external service.
    Further upgrades made to further secure data at rest and data in motion invited to DER by AEMO to help developing Australia's distributed energy register,
    Successful launch of our Solar Panel Validation service for manufacturers, and our clients.

  • Launch new Formbay Solar website

  • Gained ISO 27001 Accreditation for Information Security
