Formbay began by digitising STC submissions — replacing paperwork with a smarter, fasterway to process solar installs.

Today, we’re the leading platform for clean energy job validation and compliance in Australia, powering large-scale electrification across solar, batteries, air conditioning, and beyond.

A brief history

Dan Sullivan founded Formbay to remove the paperwork from renewable energy compliance and make it easier for installers to capture compliant data in the field.

From the beginning, Formbay combined regulatory alignment, automation and deterministic AI to help ensure the integrity of renewable energy certificate claims.

The principle was simple: make compliance easier for industry, while strengthening the integrity of every claim.

Founded in 2010 in Sydney, Australia.

Formbay started as a digital platform for the solar industry, enabling solar installers/aggregators to submit solar paperwork digitally direct from their worksite to Government agency, the Clean Energy Regulator (CER).

2010
Launch of Formbay to the Australian solar industry. Providing the first STC compliance focused field app for solar installers, allowing them to scan serials, take photos and capture electronic signatures

2011
Formbay secures its first major client, True Value Solar, processing over 600 installations per week

Formbay begins trialling its e-signature platform, helping clients digitise paper-based forms

Formbay 2.0 Launched. API, Victorian Grid Connection and QLD Electrical Certificate features released

Updated App with reliable data capture improvements. Released Remote signing request for Formbay solar clients. JSA, customer acknowledgement form digitised

Formbay expands its platform to support multiple certificate programs, including PRCs under the NSW PDRS.

Formbay’s platform is used to process over 65% of all battery PRCs in NSW.
